Walking: Strollers 👟

The Strollers Group meets every third Wednesday of the month. These walks are 2½ to 4 miles.

We try to visit a place of interest en route and usually manage to find a tea shop. Places have included Valley Gardens at Harrogate, Roundhay Park, Ripley, and Saltaire/Shipley Glen.

We are planning some canal and riverside walks, Ripon parks, York river walk. Our enjoyment is from the surroundings and the company.

Churwell Urban Woodlands

Easy - 2.5 miles [See map for details]

Leader:  Maureen (07929 273967) (I no longer have a landline)

Churwell Urban Woodlands is a conservation area with wild flowers, nature areas and bird hides. On my first visit, which was in February, I saw snowdrops, robins, bluetits and finches.  On my second visit, in March, I saw crocus and daffodils. So in April there should be more wild flowers to see. There will be plenty of time to explore this delightful area which ends in a small park where we will have lunch. After lunch we return along the same path, over the motorway to pick up a track which we will follow to reach an underpass under the motorway to return to the woodlands then on to the main road and the bus.

There is a flight of steps, 3 or four slight inclines and 3 easy stiles.

Don’t forget a picnic and sit-mat.

Catch the 52 Bus from Eastgate, Stand Victoria D (the bottom one) at 10.27am or Stand Corn Exchange D, outside the markets.
